Aggravated Assault & Resisting Arrest Charges Issued in Madison NJ

The Madison Police Department has announced that they have arrested a twenty-seven year old male following an altercation early Wednesday morning around Main and Greenwood. According to the information released at this point in time, the Defendant is alleged to have attacked exited his box truck and attacked another individual. Striking him in the face and pushing him to the ground. It is unclear at this point in time what started the altercation but fortunately for the victim, a witness was able to get the licenses plate information for the Defendant’s vehicle. The Madison Police Department was able to quickly locate the Defendant, however when they attempted to place the Defendant under arrest he fought back. He allegedly struck both officers in both the head and neck region. A brief struggle ensued and the Defendant was placed under arrest.

The Defendant was arrested and formally charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer in the third degree, two counts of resisting arrest in the third degree and one count of simple assault. The Defendant was taken to the Morris County Jail and bail was set at $10,000. He will be scheduled to make his first court appearance within the next couple weeks at his central judicial processing hearing in Morristown, New Jersey. A third degree felony is punishable by up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison plus a fine up to $15,000. For more information on aggravated assault charges please click here.
