A Washington Township resident has been arrested and charged with serious felony criminal offenses following a dispute with his contractors earlier this week. According to the reports released at this point, the Defendant, a forty-nine (49) year old male from Washington Township, has been arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and terroristic threats following an incident that occurred in his home earlier this week. Apparently the officers were called to the Defendant’s home by the contractors who were working on his home. They claim that the Defendant pulled a nine millimeter handgun from his waistband and threatened to shoot them during a verbal argument. The altercation allegedly occurred inside the Defendant’s home.
When the police responded, the Defendant was placed under arrest and voluntarily surrendered his weapon. Also located inside the home were several long riffles. The officers assert that all the weapons uncovered, including the nine millimeter handgun were legal and lawfully purchased. The Defendant was taken to the Morris County Jail and bail was set at $20,000 with a 10% option. He has since been released and will have to appear in the Morris County Superior Courthouse for his CJP hearing early next week.
