Heroin & Oxycontin Found During Pequannock Motor Vehicle Stop

The Pequannock Police Department has arrested and charged a thirty (30) year old male from Passaic with among other things, possession of heroin. According to the reports released thus far, a Pequannock police officer pulled over the Defendant after he passed him on Route 23 and noticed that his taillight was out. When the officer approached the vehicle he claims that he smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and noticed that a child was not properly being restrained. Based on their observations, a subsequent search was conducted. During the search officers uncovered three Oxycontin pills, four Suboxone, six heroin wax folds and a tablet of Buprenophine. However, it does not seem that any marijuana, which was most likely the basis for the search was found.

The Defendant was arrested and formally charged with possession of heroin, possession of Oxycontin, possession of Suboxone, possession of Buprenorphine, endangering the welfare of a child as well as several motor vehicle summons as well. The passenger, a twenty-eight year old from Butler was also arrested and charged with several drug offenses. The Defendants were taken to the Pequannock police station and processed. They were later released on a summons. They will most likely have to appear in the Central Judicial Processing Court in Morristown New Jersey early next week. Each criminal charge carries with it up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison and a fine up too $35,000.
