Eluding Charges Issued in Morris County NJ

A twenty-two (22) year old male from Succasunna, New Jersey has been arrested and charged with eluding in the second degree following a brief chase in Chester Township Thursday evening. According to the information released at this point, the Chester Township officers were dispatched to North Road following several concerned citizens complaints about two individuals on motorcycles driving in an extreme reckless manner. When the police arrived on scene they attempted to pull over the Defendant’s. However, they simply accelerated there speed and took off. It wasn’t until the Defendant’s came upon some heavy traffic that one of them decided to pull over and end the chase. The other Defendant pulled off to the side of the road and continued eluding. In addition, it appears from the information revealed thus far, that the other Defendant was never apprehended.

The Defendant who pulled over was arrested and charged with failure to stop and eluding in the second degree. His motorcycle was impounded and he was taken to the Morris County Jail where he was remained on a $25,000 bail. He will most likely have to appear at the Central Judicial Processing Hearing next week. Since the Defendant was charged with eluding in the second degree he is facing up to ten (10) years in a New Jersey State Prison and a fine not too exceed $150,000. In addition, he will be facing a six month to a two year loss of his driving privileges as well.
