New Jersey State Troopers investigating what was originally called in as a fight in progress ends up uncovering a small quantity of heroin instead. Troopers were responding to mile marker 2.1 on Route 24 in Hanover Township, New Jersey this morning for what they believed was a fight in progress. However, when they arrived on scene they noticed that the there was no fight but actually a minor motor vehicle accident. Upon a further investigation they determined that one of the parties had actually left the scene because the damage was too minor and he didn’t want to wait and report it. With that being said, once the officers began questioning the other party involved in the accident they observed what they believed was heroin folds in plain view inside his vehicle.
Base on their observations, the Defendant, a sixty-two year old male from Morristown, New Jersey was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of CDS inside a motor vehicle. The Defendant was taken to the Netcong Police Barracks and processed. He was eventually released on his own recognizance pending his Central Judicial Processing Hearing which should be scheduled in the next couple weeks. That hearing will take place at the Morris County Superior Courthouse which is located in Morristown New Jersey.
