A twenty-five year old female from Bound Brook has been charged with among other things driving while intoxicated in Parsippany late Sunday night. According to the information at this point in time, the Defendant was operating her vehicle on Marmora Road in Parsippany when she lost control trying to navigate a bend in the road. After losing control, the Defendant struck a street sign, sideswiped a tree and then drove directly into a home before coming to a stop. The vehicle in which she was driving and the home suffered significant damage. The Defendant was taken to Morristown Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. It is unclear at this point in time whether any standardized field sobriety test (SFST) were conducted at the scene.
It was later determined that the Defendant was operating her vehicle while intoxicated. She was formally charged with DWI, possession of an open container of alcohol while operating a vehicle, failure to maintain lane, unlicensed driver, reckless driving and destruction of agricultural property. The Defendant was released from custody and is pending a court hearing in the Parsippany Municipal Court.
