Inmate Indicted on Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer Charges in Morristown NJ
A Defendant who was pending sentence on an unrelated robbery charge out of Parsippany, New Jersey has been indicated on aggravated assault on police officer charges following an altercation in the Morris County Jail. Apparently on March 24, 2015, the day prior to the incident in question, an officer disciplined the Defendant for attempting to crush up and snort one of his medications. (Inmates tend to attempt to snort their medication as they claim they experience a better high) Then the next day, on March 25, 2015, the Defendant allegedly attacked the officer and placed him in a headlock and punched him several times in the head. If it wasn’t for the officer’s body alarm the situation might have been much worse. In fact, it took several officer’s to intervene to prevent the officer suffering serious injury.
The Defendant was most likely charged/indicated on aggravated assault on a police officer in the third degree. Which means, if convicted, the Defendant could face up to five (5) more years in State Prison. He has already plead guilty to a robbery charge from a separate incident, where in which he has agreed to a four (4) year prison sentence.
