Endangering the Welfare of Child & Sexual Assault Charges Brought Against Virginia Resident

Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child Issued in Morris County NJ

According to the reports released thus far, a Virginia man has been arrested and charged with among other things, endangering the welfare of a child. Apparently the relationship between the twenty-one year old Virginia resident and the twelve year old girl from Montville began almost two years ago. Throughout the last two years, the Defendant and the victim had shared sexually explicit videos. The allegations came to light when the Defendant threatened to release the sexual explicit videos of the victim on the internet. Based on the threats, the Defendant decided to tell the authorities about their on going online sexual relationship.

The authorities decided to set up a sting and have the victim call the Defendant and get him to admit to partaking in the sexual explicit video chats. The sting worked and with the authorities listening in, the Defendant admitted to partaking in the videos. An arrest warrant was issued for the Defendant and he was taken into custody in Virginia. Once he waived extradition, he was transferred from a Virginia jail to the Morris County Jail where he currently remains on a $150,000 bail. The Defendant has formally been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and sexual assault
