DWI Charges issued in Hopatcong NJ

It appears that a phone call from a concerned citizen helped the Hopatcong, New Jersey police department take a would be drunk driver off the road. According to the reports released thus far, a 911 call from a citizen who observed the Defendant driving erratically on Thursday could have prevented a deadly scenario.  After receiving the phone call, a Hopatcong officer arrived at the gas station where the caller told them the Defendant would be. When he approached the Defendant, who was located by the air pump, he immediately detected the overwhelming smell of alcohol.

The officer then attempted to have the Defendant complete some field sobriety test, which she failed. A subsequent search of her vehicle uncovered a half empty bottle of vodka. Based on her failure, she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of an open container inside a motor vehicle.
