Marijuana Possession Charges for Hawthorne Women in Pequannock NJ
A Pequannock police officer who was on routine patrol alleges that he noticed a women smoking a glass pipe while driving down the road. Based on his observations, the officer pulled over the women, who turned out to be a twenty-one year old Hawthorne resident. When the officer approaches the Defendant’s vehicle he alleges that he immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. When the Defendant was asked to step outside the vehicle, the officer further noticed a glass pipe and lighter on the front seat in plain view.
When confronted with the evidence, it is alleged that the Defendant admitted to smoking the glass pipe which was filled with marijuana while steering with her knees. The Defendant was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving. She was arrested and brought down to the Pequannock police station for processing. She was later released on a summons and an ROR status bail. The Defendant is lucky that she wasn’t charged with driving under the influences as well.
