Death by Auto and DWI Charges for Mountain Lakes Man
A major accident on Route 80 leaves three dead, two in the hospital and one logged in the Morris County Jail facing extremely serious charges. It is alleged that the Defendant, a twenty-three year old Mountain Lakes male, started a chain reaction crash on Route 80 in Rockaway yesterday evening. According to the reports, the Defendant was operating an SUV when he crashed into a sedan causing it to crash into a jeep. The sedan immediately bursted into flames while the SUV that the Defendant was driving ended up flipping down an embankment. The three occupants of the sedan were later pronounced dead at the hospital and the two occupants in the jeep are still being treated at the hospital for their injuries.
It has since been determined that the Defendant was driving while intoxicated as well as driving while suspended. As a result, the Defendant has been charged with three counts of death by auto, two counts of assault by auto, DWI, driving while suspended, causing death or bodily injury while driving while suspended as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. The Defendant is currently being held in the Morris County Jail on a $300,000 bail with no 10% option. The Defendants charged maybe upgraded to vehicular manslaughter as well.
