Two Armed Robbery Suspects at Large in Morris County
The Parsippany police department is investigating an alleged armed robbery of a gas station. According to the gas station attendant, two men approached him around 1am Thursday morning requesting directions. Then apparently as the attendant started giving the directions one of the men pulled out handgun and demanded he turn over all the money. A struggle over the weapon ensued between the attendant and the one suspect. While that was taking place, the other suspect entered the attendants booth and stole a small lock box which contained a large sum of cash. Eventually the one suspect was able to break free of the attendant, strike him over the head with the weapon. Once the suspect broke free, they both fled the scene.
Whenthe police arrived they canvased the area looking for clues. They even brought in the Morris County sheriff’s department and K9 unit to help track the suspects. However, to date they have been unable to catch the suspects. The officers are seeking any information that could help lead to the suspects apprehension. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later released the same day. If the suspects are ever caught they will be charged with armed robbery in the first degree. If convicted, the suspects could face up to twenty (20) years in a New Jersey State Prison. In addition, their sentence would also be subject to the no early release act, which in essence requires a Defendant to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can become eligible for parole.
