Resisting Arrest & Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose Charges Issued in Hanover NJ
According to the information released thus far, the Hanover police department has arrested and charged an East Orange man with a slue of charges stemming from an altercation with a women in the Borough last week. Apparently, a Hanover police officer responded to a call from a women who was attending the Ukrainian Arts Center one night last week. The women was claiming that a man approached her while she was walking her dog by the arts center and became verbally abusive towards her for no apparent reason. When the police arrived on scene, the Defendant had already fled. The police were informed that he was last seen walking down North Jefferson Road with a stake in hand.
When the officer’s finally caught up to the Defendant he allegedly threatened them and refused to release the wooden stake which he was still carrying. When backup arrived, they were finally able to apprehend the Defendant and he was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law. The Defendant is currently being held in the Morris County Jail which is located in Morristown New Jersey after he was unable to post bail.
