Riverdale Police Charge Totowa Man with DWI
According to the reports released thus far, the Riverdale Police Department has arrested and charged a thirty-two (32) year old Totowa male with among other things, DWI. The Riverdale Police Officer alleges that he observed the Defendant tailgating another vehicle as he drove down Route 23 in Riverdale at about 2:30 am this morning. As a result of the tailgating, the officer pulled over the Defendant. As he approached the Defendant to request his credentials, he claims he observed him having “slow hand movements, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from his breath. Based on his observations, the Defendant was asked to step outside the vehicle and preform some standardized field sobriety tests, also known as SFST.
Based on those results the Defendant was arrested and charged with DWI and tailgating. Back at the Riverdale Police Station the Defendant gave a breath sample and was determined to be over the legal limit. He was released on a summons and has a court date in the Riverdale Municipal Court for June.
